FDH Bank Cup: Santhe dares Eagles in round 16

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The battle line has been drawn between the two Central Region Chipiku Premier division league outfits, Blue Eagles and Santhe ADMARC from Kasungu municipality to determine who will sail through to the quarterfinals of the 2024 FDH Bank Cup edition.

Santhe which achieved the quarterfinals stage in the 2023 edition want to replicate the same and surpass it this year.

Santhe has however dared Blue Eagles to approach the encounter with caution.

Assistant coach Mike Chibojola says the team is not afraid of any weapons the Policemen will use this afternoon at Nankhaka Stadium to threaten them.

“We have prepared well for the battle and I am upbeat we will carry the day. We are not afraid and they can’t arrest us. We want to surpass last year’s achievement”, said Chibojola.

Eagles head coach Eliah Kananji says they are ready to transact on FDH Bank #525 Wallet” We are determined and our focus this afternoon is to win the match.

“Last season we were knocked out in the quarterfinals, this year we want to go further to the final and win the cup. It will be a difficult game but my boys are ready for the showdown “, explains Kananji.

In the 2023 edition, Santhe ADMARC shocked Super League teams as they knocked out Mighty Tigers through penalties after regulation time ended 0-0 at Civo Stadium in round 32, they went on to defeat Kamuzu Barracks FC in the round of 16 again the fate was determined through the post-match penalties after a nil-nil draw.

Santhe ADMARC lost 5-0 to Mighty Mukuru Wanderers in the quarterfinals at the Kamuzu Stadium, before reaching that highest stage the Santhe Trading Centre-based side successfully applied for the Short and Medium term loan for SME business in the preliminary round following their victories over Villa 2-0 and Support Battalion FC through penalties after 1-1 stalemate.

Whereas the National Police Headquarters based outfits, Blue Eagles thumped Leyman Panthers 6-0 at Nankhaka Stadium to book a quarterfinal battle against the Central Bankers, the cops lost 1-0 at the Bingu National Stadium.

Another battle in the FDH Bank Cup today and tomorrow, Baka City host Creck Sporting Club at Karonga Stadium, and Mighty Tigers against Civil Service United.
