Former Nyasa Times Managing Editor Thom Chiumia deported to Malawi after serving his sexual assault sentence

Reports reaching the Maravi Post say Thom was deported after completing three quarters ten-year sentence according to the new UK govt rules for any serious crimes by foreigners your stay is cancelled.

The Maravi Post reported then that the Former Nyasatimes chief editor Thom Chiumia was on Friday, April 23, 2021, slapped with 10 years jail term at Leeds Magistrate Court after he was found guilty on all eleven counts leveled against him including sexual assault to a babysitter.

The Nyasatimes former Chief Editor Chiumia was on Wednesday, April 21, 2021, had his bail revoked after being found guilty.

Chiumia on Saturday morning, November 25, 2017, was arrested for being suspected of sexually assaulting his children’s 17-year-old babysitter.

It was reported then Informed sources told The Maravi Post that Chiumia committed the assault inside him house in the United Kingdom where he lives.

Chiumia is said to have left his wife at the Mobo Award ceremony for his home where he found the babysitter alone with his children; he forcedly had sex without the girl’s consent.

The Mother of the assaulted girl stayed connected with our publication making sure we reported fairly on the assault.
