BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Super League of Malawi-SULOM’s first president, Henry ‘Kaka’ Chibowa has died at Mwaiwathu Private Hospital in Blantyre.
His younger brother, Vincent, has confirmed the sad news; saying he succumbed to a terminal illness.
“Yes, he has passed on at the clinic today. He succumbed to kidney failure,” he says.
Funeral arrangements remain sketchy. But former SULOM President, Tiya Somba Banda, has described Chibowa’s demise as a loss to Malawian Football.
He says Chibowa will be remembered for his n uncountable contributions to the league.
“Chibowa was the one who brought TNM to Malawi football. So, when you look at the league’s sponsorship, we will always remember him,” adds Banda.
Chibowa is also the brains behind the rebranding of Super League Association of Malawi-SULAM to SULOM.
In July 2021, the football fraternity was also dealt a heavy blow after losing former SULOM President Innocent Botomani who served from 2011 to 2019.
