MZUZU-(MaraviPost)-Malawi Defense Force (MDF) has dismissed four soldiers after a court marshal found them guilty of taking bribes at a security check-point near Chirumba Barracks in Karonga.
The four were accused of receiving the bribes from a truck driver driving from Mzuzu towards Karonga early morning yesterday.
Two of the four soldiers will do time in a military prison; one for 10 days and the other 14 days before going back home.
MDF spokesperson, Major Emmanuel Mlelemba told Zodiak online that details of what has transpired will be made public soon through a press statement.
The development comes amid hot-on-the-heels of a public outcry that some soldiers manning this check-pot demand and take bribes from traders to pass.
