Dear Editor
DID YOU KNOW that or do you remember that in October 2009 President Barrak Obama of the USA was nominated for the award of the Nobel Peace Prize which he received in December 2009? Obama recieved this great award after achieving totally nothing in the world that would qualify him for the award. As a matter of fact, Obama had been president for less than one year.
Why did Obama receive the award which by the standards of that award he did not deserve and he knew it. Every sane human in the world knew and they still know that Obama did not deserve the Nobel Peace Prize award. The award is probably one of the embarrassments and lies of his legacy as President of the USA.
But when I look at the reasons that were given as to why Obama was given the award, which were not convincing however, I understand why President Peter Mutharika was given the award on African Leadership even if it appears undeserving.
It is reasons for the award not the award itself that must seriously be scrutinized to determine how award awarding bodies arrive at their decisions.
Even Joyce Banda was nominated as one of the most powerful women in the world and African. But did you seriously believe that? What exactly had she achieved to deserve that honor?
I have made this comment because after listening to Brian Banda of Times Radio/ TV discussing the topic of Mutharikas award on Times Radio less than an hour ago, I feel the topic was discussed without seriousness.
