LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The former Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) Governor and opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP)’s presidential aspirant Dr. Dalitso Kabambe is demanding retraction of what he describes as defamatory allegations by the party’s official Billy Malata.
It is alleged that Malata, through a WhatsApp post, claimed that Kabambe was using some individuals to insult the DPP leader, Peter Mutharika by giving them peanuts for the job.
Through his lawyers, Silungwe Law Consultants, Kabambe argues the post portrays him as a crook, dishonest, self serving and involved in dirty politics.
“Our client takes exception to the defematory publication and your calculated and purposeful move to drag our client’s name through the mud and assassinate his character,” reads the law firm’s letter to Malata dated January, 12 2024.
The firm has since threatened to commence legal action against Malata if he fails to retract the post and allegations within 24 hours.
In an interview with Billy Malata declined to comment on the matter saying it’s a social media thing if the Kabambe team have issues should talk to his lawyers for response.
