NAROK COUNTY-(MaraviPost)-The Kenyan governor of Narok County Samuel Tunai and the three passengers on Saturday October 17, escaped unhurt following a helicopter crash in Eldamat area.

The area Senator Ledama Olekina confirmed the news of the accident.

Reports indicates that the governor was heading to Olenkipejus village in Melili, Narok county for a burial ceremony for the late Paul Lepore who was the father to Julius ole Sasai, the finance county executive committee member in Tunai’s Cabinet when the incident occurred.

He was rushed to Narok County Referral hospital for medical attention together with three other passengers and reports indicates that he’s in good condition.

Tuko news reported that although it is still unclear what led to the helicopter mishap but a source revealed that the chopper developed a mechanical fault soon after takeoff before it crashed which damaged the rotors of the chopper.

Helicopter crashes are rare in Kenya and on August 10, aircraft scheduled to ferry the CS from Kericho to Nairobi was forced to cancel the plans after developing technical glitch.

On July 13, one of six Kenya’s Army helicopter acquired from the United States in January 2020, through the US Foreign Military Sales (FMS) programme crashed on a training flight at Kithyoko in Machakos County killing two army officer.
