LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-First Grade Magistrate George Chimombo of Chisenjere Magistrate Court has sentenced 28-year-old ‘Prophet’ Samuel James to 12 years imprisonment for defiling a 15 year girl.
In August 2019, James of ‘Path to the Everlasting life’ ministries at Lirangwe, Blantyre impregnated and later married the girl, contrary to the laws of Malawi.
In his mitigation, the ‘Prophet’ apologised to the State for breaking the law.
The judgement has been delivered through a Mobile Court at Lirangwe Police ground, allowing the community to actively participate while sensitising them about the evils of violence against children.
