BALAKA-(MaraviPost)- Police in the eastern district of Balaka are keeping in custody a 25 year-old man for allegedly killing his 23 year old ex-wife, Stella Chiwale. The suspect George Maluwa, allegedly committed the crime this week out of jealousy following the deceased’s, refusal to take Maluwa back into her life.Balaka Police Station Spokesperson Edith Kachotsa told The Maravi Post that the two had separated in May this year after a wild three-year marriage.
The police publicist Kachotsa said the late Chiwale sought separation from the abusive marriage and settled at her parents’ home which happened to be near the husband’s house. Kachotsa added that Maluwa became jealous and used to follow the late Chiwale wherever she could go.
“On this fateful day, the alienated husband followed the deceased into a nearby forest where the ex-wife had gone to fetch firewood. The suspect immediately stabbed Stella to death before he fled from the scene.
“Following well-wishers tip-off, Maluwa was arrested on the following day within the district. Currently, the suspect remains in police custody waiting to appear in court to answer murder charge,” said Kachotsa.
The suspect Maluwa hails from Kajombo Village in Sub-Traditional Authority (T.A) Chanthunya in Balaka district.
