RUMPHI-(MaraviPost)-Malawi President Peter Mutharika convoy’s car on June 20, 2020 is reportedly kill a pedestrian in the northern district of Rumphi.

According to sources a car on the presidential convoy, which was going to Rumphi where President Mutharika was holding a campaign rally hit a pedestrian.

The deceased identified as Benard Nyasulu was hit at Bwengu and died on the spot.

Eventually, commotion erupted at Bwengu Trading Centre as communities blocked the M1 Road and burnt branches of trees in protest for the death.

However, Malawi Police National Police spokesperson James Kadadzera asked for more time before commenting on the matter.

The development comes barely hours one Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) supporters is reportedly died after sustained heavy injuries while trying to board a party vehicle.

The deceased who is yet to be identified was trying to board a car going back home after welcoming president Peter Mutharika on Friday, June 19, 2020 night died on the spot after a car run over his body at Shoprite roundabout in Mzuzu.

Mutharika was in the north wooing votes for June 23, 2020 fresh presidential elections.
