Malawi rolls out Covid-19 pandemic Vaccine

ZOMBA-(MaraviPost)-Malawi President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera on Thursday morning, March 11, 2021 launched the AstraZeneca vaccine in the country in the fight against Corona Virus that causes Covid-19 disease.

In his remarks as he was rolling out the vaccination in Zomba at Zomba State House field hospital, president Chakwera said the launch is a major milestone for the country in the war against the pandemic, adding that his administration is so delighted to finally have the vaccine in the country as it will help to save lives of many citizens.

Chakwera further said the pandemic has caused a huge damage to the society, hence having the vaccination program is of a must.

He then thanked health workers for their tireless dedication to serving the citizenry in the time of the pandemic, hence a need to have them considered in the first phase of the vaccination.

The president then thanked all the donor partners who have assisted Malawi to access the vaccine including technical support rendered.

In his speech president chakwera urged all Malawians to consider receiving the vaccination and not to be fooled or scared with lies about the vaccine.

It is expected that close to 60% of Malawians will have access to the vaccine with 600,000 health workers among the first to be vaccinated.

President Chakwera has since received his first shot of the vaccination.
