Malawi teachers to receive July salaries in AugustBLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)—Teachers should brace for tough ride as Government has disclosed that will not be able to pay ministry of education workers their July salaries on the usual dates due to faults in its pay roll system.Speaking on the matter ministry of education spokesperson, Manfred Ndovie told local media that the affected workers will get paid early August.

“We have rectified the faults and we will be able to pay our workforce when the month of August starts,” he said.

Ndovie added that new teachers who were employed in the month of April are among the affected.

“They too will get paid in August just like the others,” he said, adding:” The new teachers will not get their arrears in August as anticipated earlier.

“They will get their arrears in the months to follow but in August they will only be paid their July salaries,” he said.

In a related development, Malawi National Examination Board (MANEB) has astonished Malawians with well frame of mind by paying markers of Junior Certificate of Education (JCE) markers while owing Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examination invigilators, supervisors and security officers.

MANEB is still mum on the date they will honour the officers.

Recently, Teachers in the country went on strike following government’s lack of seriousness in addressing their long standing concerns.
