Malawi to celebrate Nation Unity, Dialogue Day on Oct 14

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-As one way of strengthening peace and unity in the country, Ministry of unity to embarked on establishing the Malawi peace and unity commission

Principal Secretary (PS) for the ministry, Elizabeth Gomani said this on Wednesday in a press briefing in Lilongwe in preparation of the national day of unity which is set to be held on October 14, 2022.

Chindembvu said the ministry will have commissioners all over the country that will be used to bring peace amidst conflict resolution.

Gomani said the world is changing fast and as a country we need to leave things to chances that they will take places by themselves.

The PS calls for promotion of peace and unity to eliminate intolerance and discrimination in line with the country national anthem

she said in preparation for the cerebration the ministry is set for 2 days conference from 12th to 13th October 2022.

She said the day is cerebrated in recognition of the importance of peace and unity as the inalienable framework for sustainable development that we have the international Regional and National development policy instruments.

National Unity day falls every September 25 yearly but this year has been shifted to 15th October under a theme “Living together in Unity ,build peace which has been localised from the international theme of” end racism, build peace”.
