LILONGWE (MaraviPost)—London based Malawian youthful leader James Woods-Nkhutabasa was on Sunday presented with an award for ‘Young African Achiever of 2015,’—an award given to a young African bringing forward development and change to the African continent.
The award was presented to him by Ex-England International Footballer John Fashanu during a red carpet event which took place in Sandtown, South Africa
Nkhutabasa dedicated the award to Malawians saying “this award is one I would like to share with you and the whole of Malawi as this recognition was made possible by all and the nation I call home.”
Other recipients of awards included Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete, Dlamini Zuma who is the Chairperson of the African Union); Diamond Platinum—the Tanzanian Music sensation.
“Absolutely delighted to have been recognised alongside them.” added Nkhutabasa.
James is a London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) alumni and Founder of an independent advisory firm providing consultancy services on sub Saharan Africa in areas of governmental relations, geo-political risk, strategic communications and media with a focus on private organisations, oil and gas.
He also serves as the Malawi Country Director at the Business Council for Africa (BCA). In this capacity, he focuses on the key business, investment and trade areas for Malawi. BCA focuses on promoting business opportunities and facilitating sustainable investment across the African continent.
Woods-Nkhutabasa has extensive knowledge of working with media and leading figures in government and private sector. He has undertaken numerous advisory roles with African governments and private sector organisations.
Since 2014 he has been working with international Wildlife organisations in the protection of Elephants and the stamping out of the illegal Ivory Trade. This work has seen him deal with numerous African Governments and global figures.
In 2012 he was one of the co-founders of an investment club seeking to make socially impactful investment on the African continent.
James is a regular speaker on African affairs. He has appeared on numerous TV, Radio & Print outlets.
He holds a BA. Honours Politics, Philosophy and History and a Masters in Social Policy and Development—focusing on policy making and implementation from governmental level and NGO’s with an in depth focus on corruption, transparency, ethnicity, poverty economics, informal and formal economy, agricultural policies, diaspora & African development economics— from London School of Economics.
