LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Malawi Congress Party (MCP) running mate in the 2025 general elections, Vitumbiko Mumba says the party has launched a complaint with the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) over alleged irregularities during the election.
Addressing the news conference on Friday night at MCP headquarters in the capital Lilongwe, Mumba observes that Malawian wants the election process to follow the law.
He therefore landed MEC for being professional.
“Some people do not want the will of Malawians to be respected. Such behavior can’t go without being exposed.
“There were some presiding officers, and Constituency returning officers who were manipulating data in favour of some candidate, and have been arrested.”
According to Mumba, the party has launched a complaint with MEC over data manipulation in 13 Polling Stations in districts including Mangochi, Thyolo, Rumphi.
He also assured party supporters and the nation that their voters will be protected.
Mumba therefore calls for calm and peace while awaiting MEC final results.
But MEC Chairperson Annabel Mtalimanja says the commission is yet to get the complaints from MCP.
Meanwhile, the commission has started announcing presidential results in four district councils including Mwanza, Luchenza Municipality, Kasungu Municipality and Likoma.
