LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Malawirise.Com will medal artists who upload their songs on their websites in principle of exposing their talents during a gala they are set to embrace later this year.
Speaking with the Executive Officer Director of CGK Music Pro and Co-Founder of the website, Abdulhamid Chazokera said the gala will be a form of motivating artists and also bring the brand awareness to people.
“We want people to gain knowledge of our website this is why my three friends and I who run this brand decided to come up with the award in order to give a podium to up and coming artists who thrash about to expose their talents.
“We are now in the route of identifying the course of action of how to come with the awardees. We would like artists themselves in coming up with modalities to put in place for the event to be colorful since this is their event not ours,” Chazokera said.
He disclosed that the websites targets both artists across the country.
“Most of the artists that upload music on the website are Malawians based in South Africa with a few based in Malawi but, mainly we target Malawian upcoming artists even though we are not selective, any artists can contact us and they are welcome to upload their music.
“Besides the brands name holding a Malawian name does not neglect other artists from different countries to upload their music. We do have some South African and Zimbabwean artists too who upload their music,” Chazokera said.
Abdulhamid also said they have appealed to more musicians and poets from Malawi to utilize the website for them to be considered for the awards.
“We are doing extremely well, so far we have approached well-known artists such as Vube , Queen Jay, Gibo Lantos, Grewiz, AZiZi, just to mention a few, and poetry because we have successfully finished a project with 15 poets in Lilongwe.
“Currently we have thought of considering the Muslim music group that I also run in Lilongwe known as Nasheeds and Poetry to be awarded too because the website does not belong to any domination but every Malawian,” Chazokera said.
He said they are targeting to host the gala in September if all goes well and when the pandemic of Coronavirus ends.
In a separate interview, Well-known Zimbabwean musician, Queen Jay said she awaits for the awards because they are very important.
“The awards are very important because they will give me a chance to showcase my talent in Malawi, and also its going to be one way of building a good relationship with Malawi musical platforms. But, I am very ready for this day even though I am very nervous,” Queen Jay said.
She further advised all people across the country to stay protected and use the precautionary put in place during this fight of corovanavirus.
