MZUZU-(MaraviPost)-In a bid to respond to COVID-19 further spread, Mzuzu City Council on Friday, April 3, 2020 banned 24 hours in drinking joints as prevention measure.
The council has ordered the drinking joints be opened from 2pm to 8pm to lessen congestion hours against Coronavirus.
The City mayor Kondwani Brian Nyasulu therefore urged companies, civil society religious institutions to continue embracing hand wash habits and a 2 meter social distance.
Nyasalu also banned social gathering including music shows, festivals, and bridal showers for the next 30 days.
He warned that only the gathering of less than 100 failing which Malawi Defence Force (MDF) and Malawi Police Service will act to them accordingly.
The city’s acting Chief executive officer Crispine Banda added that selling of groundnuts, fresh maize and sugarcane is not allowed
Banda therefore encouraged people to buy goods from legal vendors situated in legal markets.
On April 2, 2020 Malawi registered three cases of COVID-19 in the capital Lilongwe.
