Man dies in a road accident in Blantyre

A man has died in a road accident which occurred yesterday at Lirangwe along Blantyre – Zalewa Road.

According to a police report, the man, who was identified as Mafera Ng’ambi, was driving a motor vehicle, Honda Elantra saloon registration number BT 6124, from Lirangwe towards Zalewa.

Upon arrival at Lirangwe Weigh Bridge, he started overtaking an unidentified vehicle and in the process he collided head on with an oncoming truck, Mercedes Tanker registration number BQ 3840/BU 3502, which was being driven by Mr. Okelo Muzaonako.

Due to impact of the collision, the Honda Elantra Saloon swerved to a far roadside where it overturned.

Immediately, Ng’ambi was taken to Mlambe Mission Hispital where he was confirmed dead due to head injuries.

However, driver of the tanker, escaped with minor injuries.

Until his demise, Ngambi, 31, was working for Partners in Health.

He hailed from Peter Mwangalaba Village in Traditional Authority (TA) Kyungu in Karonga district.
