The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has expressed gratitude to the government, stakeholders, and partners for their support during the just-ended electoral process.

Speaking at the National Tally Centre, MEC Head of Elections, Andrew Mpesi, commended the Malawi Government for providing the necessary funding to ensure smooth operations.

He also applauded MEC officials for their professionalism and dedication throughout the electoral period.

Mpesi further recognised the critical role played by security agencies in maintaining peace and order during the elections.

He extended appreciation to all stakeholders and the media, noting that journalists promoted transparency by keeping citizens well-informed.

He emphasised that the collective effort of all actors was key to strengthening democracy and ensuring credible elections in the country.

Looking ahead, the collaboration between MEC, government, media, and security agencies sets a positive precedent for Malawi’s future elections.

It demonstrates that when all stakeholders work together transparently and professionally, the integrity of the electoral process is strengthened, boosting public trust in democratic institutions.

This cooperation can also reduce the risk of election-related disputes, violence, and misinformation, which have historically challenged Malawi’s electoral credibility.

Furthermore, the role of an informed media ensures that citizens remain aware of processes and results, reinforcing accountability and transparency.

If consistently maintained, this multi-stakeholder approach could solidify Malawi’s reputation as a nation committed to free, fair, and credible elections.

Ultimately, the success of this electoral cycle provides a roadmap for future elections, highlighting that democracy flourishes when government institutions, civil society, security agencies, and media collaborate effectively.
