LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Three days after the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) declared Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) leader Arthur Peter Mutharika as the country’s president, attention has now shifted to the parliamentary race.

The Commission has confirmed that it will announce the official results of the parliamentary elections at 6pm this evening.

According to MEC spokesperson Sangwani Mwafulirwa, all preparations have been completed.

He said the Commission is fully ready to inform Malawians of the outcomes from their respective constituencies.

The announcement is expected to generate significant national interest, as parliamentary results will determine the balance of power in the National Assembly.

Observers note that the distribution of seats will be critical for the incoming government, as it could either strengthen or weaken its ability to pass legislation.

For many Malawians, the results will also shape expectations about how effectively the new administration can govern in the months and years ahead.

Political analysts have pointed out that parliamentary outcomes are often as decisive as presidential elections, particularly in shaping alliances, opposition strength, and overall political stability.

As the country awaits MEC’s announcement, anticipation continues to build, with citizens eager to know how the electoral map will look and which parties will emerge with strong representation.

The 6pm announcement promises to be a pivotal moment in Malawi’s democratic journey, signaling not only the end of this electoral process but also the beginning of a new chapter in governance.
