MZUZU (MaraviPost) – Mzuzu University (Mzuni) will not long from now have its own state-of-the-art hotel with which it will use in facilitating teaching of its students in the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management, MaraviPost has learnt.
According to Mzuni vice chancellor Dr. Robert Ridley, the World Bank will finance the project.
“We hope the development will play a greater role in catapulting the country’s tourism sector to greater heights,” said Ridley Saturday night.
Mzuni is the only public university in Malawi that offers studies in tourism and hospitality management at degree level.
The university joined the rest of the world in celebrating World Tourism Day under the theme ‘Tourism and Community Development.’
Malawi was named one of the top places to go in 2014 by Lonely Planet. It is one of the lesser known destinations on the travel guide’s annual list, which includes Brazil, Sweden and the Seychelles.
Malawi is touted for its wildlife and beaches.
