BLANTYRE(maraviPost)–Silver Strikers have become the first team to lift Be Forward football bonanza trophy after beating Epac FC 1-0 at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe on Saturday.
The goal, which even Silver coach Stain Chirwa said he did not know the scorer when speaking to journalits after the game, came in the 90th minute.
Silver met Epac in the final after beating Big Bullets 1-0 yesterday while Epac whacked Mighty Wanderers through penalties.
Before the final, the Blantyre giants Wanderers and Bullets competed for third place and it was the Blues who carried the day through an 82nd goal by Mapopa Kaunda.
Silver went away with K2 million and a trophy while Epac got K1 million for coming second.
Wanderers and Bullets pocketed K500, 000 and K250, 000 respectively.
Be Forward are used car dealers from Japan that export vehicles and would like to establish agency in the country, hence the tournament.
