The Queen is the only person in the UK who is allowed to drive WITHOUT a licence and she never took a driving test

LONDON-(MaraviPost)-LET’S face it – there’s plenty of reasons we’d like like to be a Royal. The Palaces. The designer wardrobes. Travelling the world for work.

But one of the biggest perks of being the reigning monarch? The fact that The Queen never had to take a driving test AND is the only person in the UK who is allowed to drive without a licence.

The Queen is allowed to drive without a licence and never had to take her test.

Admittedly, this appears to be a luxury that only The Queen (and not ALL members of the Royal Family) can enjoy as one of her royal prerogatives – that, and being able to form her own government and bestow honours on members of the public.

What’s more, The Queen is also permitted to drive a car without a number plate – something us Commoners are not allowed to do on UK roads.

Although we can’t imagine Her Majesty does much driving around London, she has been photographed behind the wheel at her homes in Windsor, Sandringham and Balmoral over the years.

In April, The Queen’s husband Prince Philip voluntarily gave up his driving licence after he was involved in a crash near the Royal Family’s Sandringham estate in Norfolk – but still continues to drive on private land.

The Queen first learned how to drive when she joined the Women’s Auxiliary Territorial Service during the Second World War when she was 18 years old.

Her Majesty trained as a driver and a mechanic in the forces and was promoted to honorary junior commander in 1945.

In fact, The Queen shocked King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia when she took him out for a spin in 1998 when he visited her home at Balmoral.

Former British Ambassador Sherard Cowper-Coles told The Sunday Times: “Women are not – yet – allowed to drive in Saudi Arabia, and Abdullah was not used to being driven by a woman, let alone a queen.”

Earlier this week, it was revealed that The Queen’s old vintage car has been put up for sale – and that she’d even installed a custom seat for her corgis.

The Daimler Double Six saloon car was used by Her Majesty for three years for local and low-profile engagements according to iNews.

In the back seat, a full-length rear cushion was added instead of the standard twin size, so the monarch’s three pet corgis could travel more comfortably.

The Queen racked up 12,000 miles during her ownership and it’s expected to rack up over

In more Royal Family news, bookies have suspended bets on Kate Middleton having a fourth baby in 2020 after fans bizarrely claim changing her hair is a “big clue”.
