Who is Thomson Mpinganjira?

By Gerald Chavez Kampanikiza

When I woke up this morning I logged into my Facebook and I decided to visit FDH bank Facebook page of Mr Thom Mpinganjira who is also the Chiairman for FDH Holdings.

I discovered a lot of things this man and his bank have been doing as part of social responsibility and many of them went unnoticed by Malawians.

He has made tremendous contributions to sports in millions, assisted floods victims across Malawi in millions and the list is endless that’s only for 2019.

One thing that caught my attention and believed that he has got nothing to do with his tribe tag was a poster I saw that he built a MK14 million house to one Marieta Samuel of Nambuma Dowa and not in Thyolo whose hands were chopped by her husband some years ago, this too wasn’t recognized much by the media.

The only team that brings joy to Malawians the Queens stayed for years without sponsorship and lastly year Mr Thomson Mpinganjira gave the team MK360 million and not forgetting the Mayors trophy in all regions. Don’t forget MK90 million to FAM.

The man is indeed a true Malawian and probably the first Malawian to run a successful banking business unfortunately Malawians do not support each other and we prefer to support foreigners.

We spent much of our energy on negatives about someone and never give a chance to talk about positives of someone.

To reach where he is he didn’t just wake up but he worked tirelessly for many years he had a vision, here is a man with a positive world reputation he earns a lot of respect around the global and he is a motivator and a good public speaker and as a nation we can learn a lot of him if we are positive of doing great it life.

Mpinganjira and his bank in terms of social corporate responsibility to Mawians can’t be equaled to any bank in this country this I bet you.

I remember last year Mr Thomson Mpinganjira says linking him and the bank to politics is putting his life at risk, “the bank does not fund the ruling DPP as it was alleged by the society”

He said this when he was addressing the media last year to clarify on trending issues regarding his bank and its business, politics. He said he is not a politician and does not harbor any political ambitions.

He distanced the bank from rumors that it funds the ruling DPP, adding that people from both the ruling and opposition political parties have approached him to join politics but he turned them down.

What I have discovered as #GCKCAMERAS is that Mpinganjira has got three major enemies.

First enemy people from his own tribe, these are people with high political ambitions and they feel he is not by their side and that one day their motives may not be accomplished because of him and they do all they can to talk bad about him through their social media forums.

Second enemy and is the dangerous one competitors in the banking industry, these are people that feels Mpinganjira and FDH are more advantaged and making huge profits than them and they say aluta continua.

Third enemy and the most dangerous one few people from other tribes who hates him of being a well to do person, and he doesn’t come from their tribe.

These people influences a handful number of people to hate him and his business, these people make you blindly fight their battles and hate their enemies though it isn’t your business to do so.

One thing I can assure Malawians is that this man is unstoppable and never can we manage to put a good man down.

Even if we go for fresh elections this year or not and Malawi Congress Party (MCP), UTM or any alliance wins will still be a partner of Mr Thomson Mpinganjira and his bank FDH.

Before you start hating someone first ask yourself do I have issues with this person, am I not fighting the battles that are not mine, should I hate him/her because of someone.

  1. The writer has nothing to offer on the table. You were supposed to offer reasonable argument. By the way why have you not mentioned fraudulent purchase of MSB? Are you sure the DPP is an enemy of this man? When you want to write to a wider audience you should do a thorough study before bringing issues that can not be appealing to the public. If you are a journalist then you haven’t yet finished the school of journalism. Go back to school and come back with better articles.

  2. LOL!! This is absolutely ridiculous. Is this a personal blog?? Kulemba ngati you’re jotting down notes in your high school diary bwanji? Is this what you call journalism? I came here to be informed, not to be preached at and attacked with an onslaught of HIGHLY PERSONAL OPINIONS. Don’t even get me started on the laughable attempt at grammar. Do you people not have editors? This is the first and last time I’ll be clicking on any of this site’s links. Pathetic. Do better!!
