The incumbent Peter Mutharika will probably go down in history as the worst president Malawi has ever had.
A man of his education, stature and experience could have done so much for the country but he is, in the end, just a miserable failure. In politics, moronic leaders tend to gather around them dunderheads.
Stupid leaders like to have even stupider people to make themselves look good.
You could forgive Bakili Muluzi and Joyce Banda because they didn’t have an education of their own, and were not tested leaders.
But not Peter Mutharika. How can a Yale-educated, one-time university professor be so clueless on…virtually everything about running this country. His lack of interest in being an effective president is staggering.
It’s clear he loves to enjoy the perks of being president, but without doing the job of a president. No, people, Malawi can not afford to continue with that kind of arrangement.
Because he is ineffective and inactive, cheats and tricksters are running around doing as they wish in this country.
We are hearing that Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) spent over two billion of our money on the elections case.
Most of that money was lost to corruption, inflated costs and money laundering schemes—like the MK600 million bill for the South African lawyers.
Everyone around him— wife, bodyguards, tribesmen, advisors, his lawyers—have realized that this old man is sleeping and it’s their opportunity to loot before he wakes up.
Trouble is, Peter won’t ever wake up with his Democratic Progressive Party (DPP). Maybe he will on July 2,2020 when they will wake him to tell him it’s time to move out of State House.
