BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-The National Anti-Corruption Alliance (NACA) has commended the commencement of court proceedings against Zuneth Sattar, who faces 18 counts of bribery in the United Kingdom(UK) and has called for justice regarding local officials implicated in the matter.
In a statement seen by this publication, NACA Chairperson Michael Kaiyatsa has described the development as a significant step in addressing corruption in Malawi.
The UK National Crime Agency(NCA), in collaboration with the Anti-Corruption Bureau(ACB), arrested the UK-based businessperson in 2021.
He is alleged to have bribed senior Malawi government officials to secure business contracts with institutions including the Malawi Defense Force(MDF) and Malawi Police Service(MPS ).
The 44-year-old businessman appeared in court via video link on Saturday for a preliminary hearing and is scheduled to appear again on June 26,2025.
