Nankhumwa overwhelmingly elected as Opposition Leader in Malawi Parliament

Nankhumwa remains opposition leader in Malawi parliament

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The Mulanje Central Constituency lawmaker Kondwani Nankhumwa was on Thursday, October 1, 2020 overwhelmingly voted as Leader of Opposition in Malawi Parliament.

Nankhumwa beat Francis Kasaila and Bright Msaka by 38, four and one votes respectively during the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Members of Parliament elections conducted this morning.

The elections follows the decision deputy speaker of Parliament Madalitso Kazombo who threw away staged DPP letter of replacing Nankhumwa with Kasaila in the house.

Nankhumwa got the support from the party’s Secretary General Gredeza Wa Jeffrey of the position including some lawmakers.

According to inside sources, Jeffrey is expected to announce the dates of Convention.
