Ngwangwa bus catches fire on Thabwa-Fatima route near Blantyre

….Passengers escape safely as bus is engulfed in flames within minutes

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-A Ngwangwa bus operating on the Thabwa-Fatima route via Blantyre caught fire on Monday, just 30 minutes after departure.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing smoke and flames rapidly engulfing the vehicle, causing panic among passengers.

Fortunately, all passengers on board were able to evacuate safely and no injuries have been reported so far.

The cause of the fire is not yet known, and authorities are expected to investigate whether it was due to a mechanical fault or other factors.

Local residents rushed to the scene to assist in ensuring that everyone got out of the burning bus unharmed.

The incident caused temporary disruption on the route as emergency responders and traffic authorities attended to the scene.

Ngwangwa Bus Services has not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident or potential compensation for affected passengers.

Passengers who witnessed the fire expressed shock but thanked the quick evacuation for preventing casualties.

Authorities have advised travelers to remain vigilant and follow safety protocols while boarding public transport.
