MZUZU-(MaraviPost)-The Northern Region Volleyball Association (NRVA) together with the Volleyball Association of Malawi (VAM) has awarded FISD Company Limited, Grand Palace Hotel and other entities for their efforts in developing volleyball in the country.
FISD Company Limited and Grand Palace Hotel have been sponsoring an international volleyball tournament in Mzuzu for two years now.

Other entities that have been accorded the same award include Raiply Limited which sponsors the national volleyball tournament, Jappie Mhango who sponsors the Northern Region Volleyball League, Nyaluwanga Farms, Mzuzu International Academy and Lilongwe Dairy.
Organising Chairperson for FISD International Volleyball Tournament, Killy Musukwa, told Maravi Post that one cannot talk about Malawi volleyball without mentioning the above entities.
“Our relationship with FISD Company Limited is just very strong. They remain the main sponsors of an annual volleyball tournament that has been taking place here in Mzuzu. The same is true with Grand Palace Hotel, Mzuzu International Academy, Nyaluwanga Farms, Raiply, Lilongwe Dairy and Honourable Jappie Mhango.
“These entities part with a certain amount of money into the development of volleyball year in, year out. We thought it would be wise to honour them with these awards as special recognition to their efforts in the development of volleyball,” he explained.
Vice Chairperson for Northern Region Volleyball League, Aaron Manda, said Raiply Limited and Honourable Jappie Mhango have helped lifting volleyball teams in the northern region.
“Volleyball is a sporting discipline that has been sidelined for some time but Raiply Limited and Honourable Jappie Mhango have always been there for us. Honouring them with these awards is just the right thing to do at this point,” he said.
Manager for Grand Palace Hotel, Sam Phiri, told Maravi Post this was good news and urged the cooperate world to be on toes in giving back to Malawian communities in a quest to developing the country in various sectors.
“This is good news for us. We are very delighted and honoured to be recognised in this way. These are the partnerships that we are looking for. These things are reciprocal. It’s a pleasure and an encouragement for us to work even better in our services.
“Let me urge other companies and organisations to always have a heart of supporting different initiatives by Malawians as we all strive to develop our beloved Malawi nation,” remarked Phiri.
Chief of Drilling and External Operations at FISD Limited, Jack Kujaliwa Junior, said FISD is a Malawian company that loves to give back.
“For us, it’s about social corporate responsibility. The Volleyball Association of Malawi has been a close ally for some time now.
“Sport is critical for total human well-being. Apart from that, we believe that with good sponsorship, sports will soon become a good capital investment since young people can use it as an alternative economic activity in the face of high unemployment rate in the country,” said Kujaliwa.
Among diverse agricultural services it offers to Malawians, FISD Limited Company through its subsidiary, FISD Drilling, is a leading company in water exploration and drilling.
