Ntchisi man Boston Khwanya arrested for arson

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Malawi Police in Ntchisi are keeping in their custody a 47-year-old-Boston Khwanya for allegedly setting ablaze a house belonging to his wife, killing a five month-old baby in the process.

Ntchisi Police Spokesperson Yohane Tasowana, confirmed of the incident which occurred at Kandaya Village in the wee hours of Monday August 22, 2022.

Tasowana said at the time, the two, who were on separation since last year, had some discussions on the possibility of ending their differences.

But upon disagreements, the suspect returned to his house before he later came back and set ablaze the house which the mother and baby were sleeping in.

Due to the impact, the baby died on the spot while the mother, Esnart Nyasulu, sustained burnt wounds.

Khwanya will appear in court soon to answer the charges of murder with arson.

He hails from Kandaya village, Traditional Authority (T.A) Kalumo in the Ntchisi district.
