BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-The founder and leader of Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) Prophet Shepherd Bushiri has divulged his plans to build two big churches called mega churches in the two major country’s cities of Lilongwe and Blantyre.
Speaking during the Cruise 5 Program on Sunday, August 21, 2022, Bushiri said, currently, plans are in pipeline to have the mega churches built in the two mentioned cities.
He said the plans to build mega churches in the country started during the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP)’s era but they were facing resistance from the government as the proposals for the initiative were not approved.
“We have plans to build big churches in Lilongwe and Blantyre. About ten years ago , we also gave Lilongwe and Blantyre city councils our proposals for approval of the initiative unfortunately, proposals were not being approved.
“We were facing some resistance from the previous government but up to now,I don’t know the reason behind the resistance,” he said.
Prophet Bushiri said the current government has now given them a go ahead with the plans to build the praying houses which will have biggest capacities.
“The current government is now directing us on what to do on the move. The project will take time as you know that a mega church is different from the normal church.
The model and capacity of the churches which we want to build in the cities of Lilongwe and Blantyre are different from the normal churches. We are currently dealing with some technical things as the churches to be built are big ones,” he said
Bushiri further disclosed that the Enlightened Christian Gathering Church has so far built over 40 churches in the country.
He said Karonga, Dedza, Mzuzu are among other districts where ECG has its churches in the country.
“We would like to see Malawi becoming a regional hub for technology, tourism and medical care. This in turn, will drive more people to Malawi who will boost foreign exchange, hence improving Malawi’s economy,” Bushiri said.
Bushiri is also constructing a magnificient city in the Malawi’s lake shore district of Mangochi
The city named Goshen city will among other things have a university, schools, shopping malls, apartments, amusement parks, boat rides, a business center, a state-of-the-art technology hub, show rooms, Goshen City farms, factories, kids’ town, hotels, lodges, an airport, a mega church, stadium, 5 star hospital and many more.
