LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Opposition lawmakers boycotted Parliament as soon as President Lazarus Chakwera started answering questions in the August House.
George Chaponda, leader of the opposition, told journalists on Wednesday, February 26 that the members should refrain from hearing the lies presented by the president at the August House.
Chaponda emphasized that asking questions to someone who doesn’t listen to advice is a waste of time.
According to him, Chakwera SONA did not adequately represent Malawians’ perspectives and challenges.
“Chakwera’s SONA merely indicates his glory, and not the hardships of Malawians, which is a source of dissatisfaction, Chaponda stated.
He declared that the party shares Mzimba North’s opinion that we are currently dealing with Cyclone Chakwera.
He mentioned that the members will not be attending the crucial meeting that is currently taking place and they will not be wasting time staying in the house to hear questions from all government Members of Parliament.
He argued that Chakwera should resign in accordance with his promise to step down after failing to deliver for two years.
Concurring with Chaponda, the representative of the United Transformation Movement (UTM), Chrissy Kanyanso said that their party is also tired of lies and cannot be part of a meeting where lies are decorated.
