The embattled former ruling People’s Party (PP) has fired its northern provincial Chairperson Reverend Christopher Mzomera Ngwira for disrupting an internal meeting meant to iron out the party critical matters ahead of it leader’s, Dr Joyce Banda home coming.
Ngwira together with Mrs. Cliffer Kondwe’s firing amid accused of hiring thugs to disturb meeting on Friday, September 4, 2015 which was held at Victory Temple in Mzuzu.
The development also comes after a few days the same party suspended Reverend Peter Kaleso who was the Director of Administration for indiscipline currently waiting to appear before PP’s Discipline Committee. Meanwhile, Ken Msonda, the party’s Spokesperson is holding the post ahead of Kaleso’s fate.
Through a letter dated September 5, 2015 signed by Ibrahim Matola, PP’s Secretary General, available to The Maravi Post is addressing both Ngwira and Kondowe for their expulsion that they should handover the party’s materials, vehicles and any other property within seven days.
“I regret to inform you that you have been expelled as a provincial chairperson and party member with immediate effect. Your behaviour when senior party members came to address a meeting in the north on operations for our party founder and president HE.Dr Joyce Banda’s home coming as a serious misconduct to bring confusion in the party.
“Please handover party material, vehicles and any other property in your possession to the Provincial Secretary within seven (7) days from date of this letter”, concludes the suspension letter signed by Matola, PP’s Secretary General.
According to sources, the former country’s President Joyce Banda is expected to be back home in Malawi this month with expectation to face cashgate and Mphwiyo’s mud stride posed on her by various suspects in the court that she bears witness to some case.
