MOSCOW-(MaraviPost)-At least 13 people including six adults and seven minors have died, scores wounded after a gunman opened fire in the school in Izhevsk, east of Moscow in Russia.

Russia’s interior ministry confirmed the shooting in a statement and disclosed that the school has been evacuated following the tragic incident.

The gun man reportedly entered the school that has about 1,000 pupils and killed a security guard and later started shooting randomly at the people in the compound before turning the gun on himself.

The Russian Investigative Committee said the shooter had been armed with two pistols and a large supply of ammunition and was dressed all in black, with a red swastika in a circle drawn on his shirt, Sky news reported.

Russian President Vladimir Putin condemned the attack on Monday, September 26 in a statement and he has sent his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased.

Russia has seen several school shootings in recent years despite the country’s denial of the frequency of the shootings.

In May 2021, a teenage gunman killed seven children and two adults in the city of Kazan.

In April 2022, an armed man killed two children and a teacher at a kindergarten in the central Ulyanovsk region before committing suicide
