South African police officer sentenced to 32 yrs for killing Nigerian

The South African Police Constable, Austin Reynold, who robbed and killed a Nigerian, Emeka Okoli, was on Monday sentenced to 32 years in prison by a Durban High Court.

The Nigerian, Okoli was killed in Durban, Kwa Zulu Natal, in 2018, he was reportedly shot at close range during an unauthorised raid by Austin Reynold on the Community where he resides.

Meanwhile, the court sentenced the policeman three days after he was found guilty of robbing and killing the late Okoli.

The court sentenced Reynold to seven years for counts of robbery and 25 years for the count of murder.

Reacting to the judgment by Justice Shyam Gyanda, the Nigerian community in South Africa welcomed the court Judgement on the South African police officer who shot at close range and killed Okoli.
