BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-The Southern Region Football Association (SRFA) has expressed confidence that the upcoming FINCA Premier Division League will produce teams capable of making a strong impact in next year’s NBS National Division League.
With only three days before the regional competition kicks off, SRFA General Secretary Ishmael Sande said the association’s goal is not only to run a successful league but also to develop clubs that can compete effectively at national level.
Sande said SRFA wants teams from the Southern Region to earn promotion and prove they can challenge some of the country’s top clubs in the National Division League.
According to him, the association has intensified efforts to strengthen participating teams through various development initiatives, including football management training conducted recently in Blantyre with support from the Football Association of Malawi.
He said the training was aimed at ensuring clubs are fully prepared for the demands that come with playing in a national competition.
Sande noted that many teams have previously struggled after gaining promotion because they lacked strong administrative structures and proper planning.
He said SRFA is determined to change that trend by helping clubs become competitive both on and off the pitch.
The administrator added that the association expects this season’s league to be highly competitive, with clubs fighting for a chance to reach the national stage.
Sande believes the quality of football in the Southern Region continues to improve and that the region has the potential to produce strong representatives.
As teams finalize preparations for the new season, SRFA is hopeful that the league will serve as a platform for identifying clubs capable of excelling beyond regional football.
