LILONGWE–(MaraviPost)-In the count-down to this year’s Be More Race, Standard Bank Plc has announced a set of exciting activities and innovations designed to amplify participant’s experience, provide business opportunities for SMEs and showcase the talent in Malawi’s athletics landscape.
This year’s race under the theme “Run in Blue” will occupy a new venue, the Gateway Mall after it was shifted a stone-throw away from the Bingu National Stadium in July.
Standard Bank Head of Marketing Tamanda Ng’ombe disclosed that this year’s race features upgrades in race management using modern athletics technologies and amenities, alongside an expertly crafted race jersey for an international marathon experience.
“This year’s race features a custom race jersey with expertly crafted specifications to ensure comfort, during and after the race. It is a race jersey that can be used beyond the event for other workouts and fitness activities,” said the Marketing Head.
“In addition to this, we have also introduced an e-tracking system for runners to also ensure transparency and improve timely access to race results. Overall, this kind of system doesn’t just make races smoother—it transforms them into high-tech, fair, and fan-friendly experiences” explains Ng’ombe.
Athletics Malawi President Kondwani Chamwala applauded Standard Bank Plc for the new additions and innovations.
“These innovations attest to the race maintaining a high level of professionalism, in line with international athletics event standards. We thank Standard Bank Plc for their continued support in growing athletics in Malawi,” said Chamwala.
He thanked the bank for dedicating all funds raised through kit sales to athletic initiatives conducted by the Athletics Malawi across the country.
According to Standard Bank Plc, participants should look forward to an exciting race which will also feature musical performances, fitness marketplace, food stalls, and the children’s play area on the 16th of August at Gateway Mall.
