Tanzania President Magufuli’s friend Dr. Anna Mghwira tests positive for Covid-19…had no signs

DODOMA-(MaraviPost)-Tanzanian President Dr. John Pombe Magufuli’s friend has becomes the first high profile person to test positive for COVID-19.

Regional Commissioner for Kilimanjaro Dr. Anna Mghwira on Wednesday, 29 April, become the first high profile figure in Magufuli’s government to reveal her COVID-19 status.

The 61-year-old Dr. Anna Maghwira who contested for 2015 Presidential poll as the only female candidate under ACT Wazalendo party before she was appointed by Magufuli as the Regional Commissioner in 2017, said she tested positive for COVID-19 but had not revealed any single sign.

She only noted that she some days back she was getting tired too easily, but did not experience other common Coronavirus signs like dry coughing, sneezing, difficulty in breathing and headache.

Dr. Maghwira only went for tests as one way of encouraging Tanzanians to do the same only for her to turn out to be positive.

“I too the COVID-19 test and the resukts have shown that I am positive. Several weeks ago I began feeling so exhausted and that is why I felt I should take the test,” she said

She then urged Kilimanjaro residents and Tanzanians at large to stay alert and learn cope up with the new lifestyle of regular hands washing, wearing masks and other measures.

I would like to use this opportunity to ask you not be scared, the virus is here with us and he only way is to encourage hygiene, social distancing and to wear face masks,” she added.

She also noted that it was possible for COVID-19 patients to be nursed from their homes.

Tanzania has so far recorded 480 cases. 16 lives have already been lost.
