DODOMA-(MaraviPost)-Tanzania and Somalia have confirmed their first coronavirus cases.
According to Reuters Tanzania Health Ministry spokesperson Gerald Chami says the 46-year-old woman was found with the virus on Sunday, March 15, 2020 when returning from Belgium abroad using Rwand Air plane which landed at the Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA)
Tanzania Health Minister Ummy Mwalimu said the woman left the country on March 3 and visited Sweden and Germany before travelling to Belgium and then returning to her home country.
She said the thermal scanner at the airport did not detect any high temperature.
The woman went into self isolation but samples taken from her tested positive for the Covid-19 disease, according to the Daily Nation.
The United States and countries across Europe are closing schools, entertainment venues and all but essential services, as they step up efforts to combat the coronavirus pandemic.
Governments are limiting travel – both inward and outward – to curb the movement of people. South Korea and China, both wary of imported infections, have tightened requirements for international arrivals.
More cases are now being reported outside China, where the virus first originated late last year, than inside.
Schools in New York City are shut and classes moved online, while entertainment venues have been ordered to close from Tuesday, as officials increasingly turn to quarantine measures to tackle a virus that has now killed more than 6,500 people around the world.
Here is a list all the countries with confirmed cases.
