LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The sponsor of the TNM Super League, Telecom Network Malawi (TNM) Plc, has announced a 350% increase in sponsorship.
The league will now receive sponsorship totaling MK500 million, up from MK150 million.
The Chief Executive Officer of the mobile company, Michel Hebert, announced this during the unveiling ceremony in the commercial city of Blantyre.
“As a company, we are passionate about Malawi football. We have sponsored the league for close to two decades now. We want to see teams benefit,” he said.
The President of the Super League of Malawi, Colonel Gilbert Mitawa was delighted with the new sponsorship deal.
“Telecom Networks Malawi has not only tripled the package we requested but also added some incentives on top of what we had asked for. This deal will indeed help us revive, reform, and rebrand the game,” Mitawa said.
From the package, MK176 million will be allocated towards team prizes, with the champion walking away with a whopping MK100 million.
MK10 million will be allocated to individual awards, while MK160 million will go towards club subventions, with each team receiving MK10 million.
