Nigerian road accident claims 28 lives

BAUCHI STATE-(MaraviPost)-The accident that occurred around 12 midnight in Bauchi State along Bauchi-Ningi Expressway involving two vehicles has claimed the life of about 28 people.

Bauchi Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps, Abdulrazak Najume confirmed the incident. He said out of the 29 people involved in the crash, only one survived.

Najume said one of the drivers involved in the collusion fell asleep and lost control of the vehicle which resulted to a head-on collision claiming lives of 24 family members who were going for a wedding and several others.

“Immediately the crash occurred, the two vehicles were engulfed in flames and all the passengers and the cows were burnt beyond recognition. Only the driver survived with serious injuries,” he said.

The remains of the deceased together with the survivor have been taken to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital for confirmation and treatment.

The head of FRSC has expressed sadness over the incident. He has however urged drivers to be more careful when on the road to avoid loss of lives and properties.
