BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Unscrupulous individuals have hacked the country’s civil right group Centre for Democracy and Development Initiatives (CDEDI) facebook page official account.
The grouping has however issued sincerely statement regretted informing its Facebook followers and of the development of resulting in the loss of control of the page.
The CDEDI says has taken note that whatever is currently happening on the page, is the work of the enemies who have illegally gained access and ownership of the account saying efforts have been made to report the matter to Facebook on the same.
“CDEDI media team, in liaison with some IT experts are working tirelessly to recover the page,’’reads the statement in part signed by its Executive Director, Sylvester Namiwa.
The CDEDI has of late been seen as a critic of President Lazarus Chakwera’s Tonse Alliance government.
The organization has been taking Chakwera head on to explain a number of critical issues affecting Malawians citing sky-rocketing prices of basic commodities and the governance system, among others.
Social media commentators have described CDEDI Facebook account hacking as not coming on a surprise saying there are many people in Malawi who do not want Malawi and its leaders to change to the better.
“CDEDI has been enlightening Malawians that their duty is not only to clap hands at Government but to give direction to Government to do what is right for the people,” reads one comment on the wall.
Meanwhile, Malawi Congress Party [MCP] diehard of Mvera in Dowa district Rodgers Kamphangala, has said CDEDI activities have not benefited only the opposition DPP but the entire Malawians regardless of party affiliations.
Kamphangala has described those that have hacked CDEDI Facebook account as enemies of Malawians saying this is not the hard-won democracy which they fought for, urging CDEDI management not to be silenced by the Facebook account hacked.
