Usi vows to build UTM

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The newly appointed Malawi Vice President Michael Usi has vowed to build his UTM party ahead of 2025 polls.

Usi assurance comes after sworn in as Veep after the death of his predecessor Saulos Chilima in a plane crash on June 10, 2024 in Chikangawa forest.

He officially took oath of office while affirming his will and commitment to serve the nation and uphold the Constitution.

In his acceptance speech, Usi, who is also a comedian expressed profound gratitude to the late Chilima for believing in him to be vice-president of UTM party.

He also lauded President Lazarus Chakwera for the first to appoint him as Cabinet Minister while ahonouring the late Chilima by appointing him as his replacement.

“To UTM , thanks for your support during the time I was vice-president of our party. I will do my best to build our party,” assured Usi.

Malawi goes to general elections in September 2025 and its not yet known whether UTM will sustain Tonse Alliance partnership.
