Police in Ntcheu are keeping in custody Anderson Daniel, 64 of Msemanyama Village in the area of Traditional Authority Champiti in Ntcheu for committing incest by defiling his own eleven year old daughter.
Chigalu said information sourced by police indicates that the suspect had been defiling his daughter for several times, the latest being on March 11, 2015.
“The victim said she used to report the nasty experiences to her mother, but to her surprise the mother did not do anything nor informed any relative,” said Chigalu
He said the victim told the police that her father used to leave his bed room for her bed room where he used to defile her at night and that at times the man used to defile her during the day.
Chigalu said in the recent case, the victim decided to report the issue to his uncle who immediately took the girl to Ntcheu Police.
“Medical examination conducted at Ntcheu District Hospital has confirmed that the victim was indeed defiled,” said Chigalu.
This incident has taken place two weeks after Minister of Gender, Children, Disability and Social Welfare Patricia Kaliati, had warned mothers against concealing information surrounding defilement cases during an awareness creation rally on the Marriage, Divorce and Family Relations Bill at Kanyemba Village in the area of Senior Chief Kwataine in Ntcheu.
