A leader returns: VP Dr Jane Ansah’s welcome back to Malawi

Vice President Dr. Jane Ansah arrived back to Malawi from the UK at Kamuzu International Airport on Thursday, 15 January around 12:50 hours, after a private visit.

She was welcomed by Minister of Justice Charles Mhango and David Kambalame, Presidential Advisor on National Unity, including other government and party officials, underscoring her importance in Malawi’s political landscape.

Dr. Ansah, a trailblazer in law, governance, and leadership, has been serving as Vice President since October 2025, alongside President Peter Mutharika.

Her distinguished career includes roles as Attorney General, Supreme Court Justice, and Chairperson of the Malawi Electoral Commission, showcasing her expertise and commitment to public service.

Dr. Jane Ansah’s return to Malawi marks a significant moment for the country’s leadership.

As Vice President, she’s been instrumental in shaping Malawi’s future, bringing her vast experience in law, governance, and public service to the table.

Her pioneering roles as Malawi’s first female Attorney General, Supreme Court Justice, and Chairperson of the Malawi Electoral Commission have set a high standard for leadership in Malawi.

Some of her notable achievements as Vice President include demonstrating empathy and a proactive approach in disaster response and management, especially during the flood crisis, launching programs addressing hunger and promoting sustainable farming under food security initiatives, supporting ICT growth and emphasizing investment potential in digital development, and showcasing leadership in SADC and AU-EU engagements through regional diplomacy.

Dr. Ansah’s leadership is grounded in faith, justice, and a lifelong commitment to national service.

Her vision for inclusive progress and emphasis on accountability, integrity, and zero tolerance for corruption are key aspects of her governance approach.

As Malawi continues to navigate its path forward, Dr. Ansah’s leadership will undoubtedly play a crucial role in shaping the nation’s future.
