Anti-Martha Chizuma vigil set for 7 days at Malawi Parliament premises

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Some of the country’s concerned citizens has set seven days vigil at Malawi Parliament premises aim at forcing embattled Anti corruption Bureau (ACB) Martha Chizuma to resign.

The vigil comes seven days ultimatum the grouping gave to Chizuma after petitioned parliament last week.

Munlo set for vigil against Chizuma

Leader of the grouping, Redson Munlo told the news conference on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 in the capital Lilongwe that people at the bureau is failing to work properly due to the breach of trust by Director Chizuma.

Munlo observes that the violation of the Oath by the ACB Director is a very serious offence and has put the Bureau’s work into disrepute and risks compromising corruption investigations.

He said Chizuma should honorably resigned to allow smooth and unbiased investigations into the criminal nature of her action.

Munlo observes that President Lazarus Chakwera has no power to pardon a person which her case is still in court.

He said the audio touches different departments and those department that were mentioned are under threats.

Recently the grouping gave 7 days ultimatum to Parliament through Public Appointments Committee (PAC) member to fire Chizuma for breach of Oath.

Chizuma had accepted the leakage of the audio that exposes her office’s oath of secrecy.
