The menu is ready! After conducting a public lecture in the capital Lilongwe last month, Malawi’s anti-corruption and good governance expert and also barrister of the middle temple, Z Allan Ntata is set to conduct another public lecture in Malawi’s commercial city tomorrow at Nyika room, Victoria Hotel.
Ntata who has been in the country for closer to two months now granting radio and TV interviews and meeting many government officials on his determination to fight corruption and ensure good governance in the country says all is set for the much anticipated lecture.
“At the free public lecture that we are doing in Blantyre, I will be discussing why in Malawi, even Petty corruption is costing the Malawian taxpayer billions. I will also be discussing how petty corruption has resulted in the failure of all government systems,” Ntata disclosed adding that “I am sure that most Malawians can see that one has to pay a bribe for anything to get done at all- no system is working.
“Whether at road traffic department, the immigration department, at the ministry of lands or even at the police and the judiciary, for a file to make it through the stages and for a citizen to get helped with the services they need, they have to give files personally to individuals with some cash changing hands. The much touted Public Service Reforms have remained silence on these issues.
Ntata in the process praised the MCP regime of Kamuzu Banda on how it handled corruption.
“I will be discussing what could be done to make the systems begin working the way they should again; the way they used to work in the good old Kamuzu Banda days.
“I will also open the curtain on who really is leading the country and making the decisions that are causing Malawi all these hardships. Tip: It’s not who you think it is…,” said Ntata.
The lecturer will start at 6:00 PM.
