Blantyre, March 23, 2016:The 2017 Afcon Qualifier between the Flames and Guinea on Friday will proceed as scheduled as CAF has given clearance for the match to be played in Conakry after being given green light by the World Health Organisation that Conakry is safe of Ebola threat.
FAM wrote CAF seeking guidance following reports of new Ebola cases in Guinea.
CAF then wrote WHO which has since said that the new threats have not affected Conakry.
“Many thanks for your message! The cases that are in Nzérékoré in the forest area, do not pose a threat to holding the match in Conakry. There is no travel restriction to Conakry,” reads a message from Dr Socé Fall, Director for Health Security and Emergencies at WHO regional office for Africa.
The Flames face Guinea at 28 September Stadium on Friday.
The team is currently in Sierra Leone where it will play a training match this afternoon before flying out to Conakry later in the evening.
Meanwhile, some foreign based players like Limbikani Mzava, Robert Ng’ambi, Harry Nyirenda, Gabadinho Mhango, Joseph Kamwendo and Zicco Mkanda have joined the team.
