The country’s local youth charitable organization, Area 25 Friends for Development (AFDEV) has scheduled to hold a fundraising party to raise funds for the needy in accessing quality education slated for Good Friday, March 25 at Nyamitambo Art Centre at Area 25A, in the capital Lilongwe.
Apart from earmarking for needy children, the proceeds of the bash will also be used to renovate sanitation facilities at Area 25 Health Centre which are in dilapidated states.
The grouping intends to raise about MK 1million for the implementation of the charitable work for assisting needy school children especially girls, who commute from Area 25 to Bwaila Secondary School and are from under privileged families, pay school fees for 15 Orphans at Kabwabwa and Bvunguti CDSS, rehabilitate sanitary facilities at Kalambo Primary school and Area 25 Health center and assist 1 CBCC with cooking utensils.
In an exclusive interview with the Maravi Post on Tuesday evening, March 22, Geoffrey Kunje, AFDEV’ Chairperson appealed to business captains, politicians, government officials living in Area 25 to attend the event saying their support in any form; monetary and materially will change many unprivileged children.
Kunje assured those to offer their support towards the initiative that would be used for the intended purposes saying the grouping has for the past utilized resources wisely including tree planting exercises.
“The fundraising it’s an appeal for the help for the implementation of our programing. We have been using resources sourced from members. Therefore, the bash will fatten our coffers in a bid to reach many needy children.
“The party will be mesmerized by a number of activities including sizzling braai, dancing competitions, raffle draws, games, traditional foods among other with an entry fee of MK1, 000 per person. “We are therefore assuring all those will provide any support either materially or monetary that their resources are to be put in good use. This can be testified through our previous activities carried including tree planting and cleaning exercise at Kanengo”, assures Kunje.
Established as a non-governmental, non-profit making, non-political Organization primarily formulated by reputable individuals from Area 25 in Lilongwe district, .Area 25 Friends for Development (AFDEV) is dedicated to improving the lives of rural people in Malawi through education, humanitarian, social-economic and development programs.
Additionally, AFDEV was founded by a group of young women and men from Area 25 in Lilongwe District solely for charity work, especially focusing on women, girls and youth empowerment in 2013.
