LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)–Earlier on Wednesday, in a bid to foster inclusive development across all regions of Malawi, President Lazarus Chakwera, has reaffirmed his commitment to the nation’s progress irrespective of regional, religious, or political affiliations.
This dedication was emphasized during a gathering at Kamuzu Palace, where President Chakwera convened with over 50 chiefs from the central region, representing the districts of Ntchisi, Dowa, and Kasungu.
During the meeting, the chiefs engaged in discussions regarding the current state of development within their respective communities, shedding light on existing challenges and also expressing their gratitude for the developments that are currently underway in the country.
Minister of Local Government, Unity, and Culture, Richard Chimwendo Banda, thanked the President for giving the chiefs an opportunity to have a platform from which they can convey firsthand experiences and challenges directly to the President, facilitating informed decision-making and targeted interventions.
Chimwendo, highlighted the significance of these dialogues, emphasising the role traditional leaders play in driving development initiatives and ensuring their sustainability.
The engagements with traditional leaders are not isolated occurrences but part of a broader initiative by President Chakwera to engage with chiefs from various regions of the country.
Recently, similar gatherings were held in the Southern and Northern regions, where President Chakwera received commendation for his administration’s efforts in initiating transformative infrastructure projects and development programs.
In the Northern Region after meeting, over 70 traditional leaders, they expressed gratitude for ongoing projects such as the Inkosi Ya Makosi Mbelwa University, water supply initiatives, mega farms, irrigation
